As a dedicated speech-language pathologist, Sophie is passionate about helping individuals enhance their communication skills and improve their quality of life. Her journey in speech therapy began with a deep interest in the complexities of human communication and a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Sophie holds a Master of Speech Pathology from the University of Canberra and a Bachelor of Psychological Science from the University of New England. Sophie’s education provided a strong foundation in the assessment and treatment of various speech and language disorders, and she continually updates her knowledge through professional development and training in the latest evidence-based practices.

Throughout her career, Sophie has worked with diverse populations, including children with developmental delays, adults with cerebral palsy, and individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Sophie’s experience spans across settings such as schools, daycares, youth detention centres, and private practice, in regional and remote communities, allowing her to develop a comprehensive understanding of different communication challenges and effective intervention strategies.

Do I need a referral

No, you do not need a referral to access our services.

Do you offer telehealth services?

Yes, telehealth speech pathology services are available for children Australia-wide.

How do I make an appointment?

Do you work with NDIS participants?

We offer speech therapy services to both self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. We are not able to make claims for you through the NDIA portal.

What areas do you cover with your mobile service?
We offer comprehensive speech therapy services to clients throughout the Townsville region, including the Northern Beaches and the Upper Ross.
Can you provide therapy at childcare or school?
We do travel to schools, kindergartens and childcare centres and will offer services if it is appropriate for your child. We believe in a holistic approach to therapy, this includes providing strategies to parents, teachers, educators and support workers. Parent involvement in early language therapy is best practice as parents know their child best and are able to incorporate the skills learnt in therapy into their child’s everyday activities.
    At what age should my child start speech therapy?
    There is no one-size-fits-all approach as speech development varies in children. However, early intervention is often recommended. If your child is showing signs of speech or language delay by age 2 or 3, it might be time to consult a speech pathologist. Click here for a guide on developmental milestones in children.
        How long will my child need speech therapy for?
        The duration of speech therapy depends on the child’s individual needs. Some children show improvement within a few months, while others may need ongoing support for several years.
            What is involved in speech therapy?
            Speech therapy techniques vary based on your child’s age, needs and area/s of difficulty. Therapists may use interactive games, exercises or specialised software to engage your child in learning and building their speech and language skills.
